14 Evidences Indicating A Soul Has Been Born Again

Apart from the beginning, not all evidences are strictly chronological and do overlap. All evidences are unique to a believer (if realized in the Biblical sense), and though it may be possible for a born again person to be lacking in some evidences by some degree, the lack of any of the evidences is cause for real concern, and falling short in any calls for examination, earnest prayer, repentance and consecration.

The Blessed Hope

A Word To The Lost

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and Godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience Godliness; And to Godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ“ (2 Pet. 5 – 8).

# 1.) Regeneration: You had a day in which you realized your lost sinful condition, with absolutely no hope of salvation through your efforts or merits or that of any church (etc.), but you looked to the Son sent by God the Father, Jesus Christ, who died for you and rose again, and cast all your faith on Him to save you, deciding you wanted Him over sin.

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost” (Titus 3:5).

Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 20:21).

# 2.) Baptism: You were baptized in identification with your Lord in whom you trusted (not as a baby, which cannot fulfill the requirements for baptism – which act is also supposed to be under water – nor prior to conversion).

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” (Acts 2:38).

But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women” (Acts 8:12).

Then they that gladly received His word were baptized: ..” (Acts 2:40).

And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him” (Acts 8:36-38).

# 3.) Supernatural spiritual rejoicing: You realized a new found joy in Jesus Christ; you knew that the Risen Jesus was real and alive, and that you were forgiven, and “accepted in the Beloved”, and that the Bible was in fact the Word of God. You experienced the realities of being born spiritually; you had in essence a new heart with new affections – an earnest, ongoing hunger to know how to please God according the Bible, and were much moved to pray, and had a unique soul affection for other believers. In general even other things in life seemed new.

And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing” (Acts 8:39).

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (1Cor. 5:17).

For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost” (1 Ths. 1:5, 6).

# 4.) Fellowship of believers: You turned from sin to serve the Living and true God, and followed Him as part of a Bible believing/preaching church, if possible.

..... and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers” (Acts 2:41).

For they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God” (1Ths. 1:9).

# 5.) Prayer life: You realized and have a burden to pray directly to the Lord (not “say prayers” nor pray to any other), in accordance with His Word. You see the Lord both inspiring you to pray for certain things or people and answering your prayers.

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation: He is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him: God is a refuge for us. Selah“ (Ps. 62:5 – 8).

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus“ (1Tim. 2:5).

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need“ (Heb. 4:14 -16).

And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand“ (Rev. 8:4).

If ye shall ask any thing in My Name, I will do it” (Jn. 14:14).

And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us“ (1 Jn. 5:14).

# 6.) Worship: You want to see the Lord alone exalted, and to worship and praise Him.

Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine Own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power” (Ps. 21:13).

That the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ” (2Ths. 1:12).

According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death” (Phil. 1:20).

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear” (1 Pet. 3:15).

# 7.) Evangelism: You are burdened for the lost and seek their salvation by prayer and sharing the Word.

Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word” (Acts. 8:4).

For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing” (1Ths. 1:8).

# 8.) Persecution: You are persecuted for your obedience to God, but overall you continue to follow the Lord even if you suffer affliction or persecution for doing so.

These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service” (Jn. 16:1, 2).

And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them, Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead. And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide. .... And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:1-3, 18-20).

I know thy works and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my Name, and hast not denied My faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth” (Rev. 2:13).

# 9.) Led by the Spirit: You see the Lord leading you and guiding you to be both holy and to serve Him practically. You see Him faithfully teaching and using you in small decisions and large. You see His word come true in your own life and that of others as you (and they) seek Him diligently.

Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that He promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses His servant” (1Kg. 8:56).

For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death” Ps. 48:14).

And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen” (Mk. 16:2).

But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him” (Heb. 11:6).

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God“ (Rom. 8:13, 14).

# 10.) Divine Discipline and Correction: You realize the chastisement of the Lord as needed; if you grow lazy in your Christian walk, and try to “save your life,” or more rebelliously do your own will.

And he said to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for My sake, the same shall save it“ (Lk. 9:23, 24).

For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons” (Heb. 12:6-8).

# 11.) Enlightenment and Holy desire: You realize holy affections, and have a real hunger to be more holy, and have a much more enlightened realization of what sin is than before you were saved, and of your own sinfulness, as well as your inability to be and do God's will by your own strength, and you know more and more how you must be in dependence upon God and the victory that results.

For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do (Rom. 7:14, 15).

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” (Rom. 8:1).

Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, He doeth the works.Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall He do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (Jn. 14:10 -12).

But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me” (1 Cor. 10).

For though He was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you” (2 Cor. 13:4).

# 12.) Transformation: You see the Lord's working in your own heart as you yield to Him, in conforming you to the image of His Son. You find the grace of God to endure trials and find victory as you pray, and yield to the Lord in faith, to let Him do His will both for your maturity and deliverance, in looking forward to eternal life .

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1 Cor. 10:13).

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified“ (Rom. 8:28-30).

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. .... “Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.” (2 Cor. 4:7 + 10).

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure”.(Phil. 12, 13).

# 13.) Holy Horror: You are grieved at the ways of the world, from how they treat God's Name and people, to other things that flow from disobeying the first two commandments. You seek the Lord's will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven, and are used of the Lord as salt and light.

Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law.”

I beheld the transgressors, and was grieved; because they kept not thy word” (Ps. 119:53, 158).

Let love be without dissimulation [falsehood]. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good” (Rom. 12:9).

# 14.) The Blessed Hope: You look forward to when the Lord reigns on the earth. You want to meet Him being practically holy, and having done His will, to give Him glory, and not to be ashamed at His coming.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Mt. 6:9).

For He must reign, till He hath put all enemies under His feet” (1 Cor. 15:25).

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying unGodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and Godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works ” (Titus 2:11-14).

Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of Him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” (2Cor. 5:9, 10).

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as He is pure” (1Jn. 3:1-3).

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and Godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” (1Pet. 3:11, 12).

Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and for ever. Amen“ (Jude 24, 25).

A Word To The Lost

If you lack these things, and are unsure of your salvation, seek the Lord with all your heart that He may be gracious to you, and that you may find the salvation that comes only through true repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who loved you and and gave Himself for you. Turn to Christ from sin and receive and follow Him, trusting in Him to save you – a sinner who has no merit or church (etc.) to save yourself by – by His blood and righteousness, as He promised.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation [perfect and final payment] for our sins“ (1 Jn. 4:10).

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God“ (Rom. 3:25).5

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are One“ (Jn. 10:27-30).

Spiritual birth and your real purpose in this life, and eternal ife in the next, OR continued spiritual death and eternal punishment for your sins awaits you. What you do with the Lord Jesus Christ, the perfect Son of the living God, reveals what you truly ultimately love and desire, and where and with whom you will spend eternity.

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be My son.

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death” (Rev. 21:1-8).

In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day“ (1Thes. 1:8 – 10)

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for He is thy life, and the length of thy days:” (Dt. 30:19, 20),

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (Jn. 5:24).

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:” (Acts 3:19, 20).

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened [resurrected alive] by the Spirit: .. Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto Him.

And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is He which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick [living] and dead. To Him give all the prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins“ (Acts 10:42, 43).

There is only one right choice. Those who believe on the Lord Jesus and follow Him to eternal life NEVER regret it. But those who will not shall face eternal remorse. If you would be saved you must make your decision for Christ while grace is still given you to do so. Will you make your decision for Christ today, or sin away your day of grace, and spend your eternity in agony, while saved souls rejoice in glory with God? We pray that you will “Forsake the foolish, and live” (Prov. 9:6). Do not let anything or anyone stop you from making that decision, and do not put it off!

We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. For He saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured [drawn] thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (1 Cor. 6:1, 2).

This decision is shown by being baptized under water in identification with your Lord, and then following Him with a Bible – believing and preaching evangelical church.

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while He is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon“ (Is. 55:6, 7).

O give thanks unto the Lord for He is good; for His mercy for ever” (Ps. 107:1)!
